SAN ANTONIO — Ballet San Antonio’s annual tradition “The Nutcracker” returns to the Tobin Center in hopes of bringing the spirit of Christmas back to the Alamo City, and celebrates 40 years of the beloved dance company.
“The Nutcracker” cast features 26 professional dancers, more than 100 local children, and eight community guests as Mother Ginger, including Dr. Seabrook Jones of San Antonio College, Kevin Matula of USAA, and Dr. Angie White of Child Advocates San Antonio.
Eight performances at the Tobin Center, running Dec. 5–14, will feature live accompaniment by The Orchestra San Antonio.”

This year, San Antonio’s professional ballet company has been focusing on ensuring as many children can experience their performances through its “Send the Kids to the Ballet” program. Last season, 5,188 children from underserved communities were able to enjoy a free abbreviated performance of “The Nutcracker.”
Ballet San Antonio is offering Texas schools free access to its filmed 2021 performance of “The Nutcracker” through Tuesday, Dec. 31. The company is also selling tickets to its Nutcracker Sweets & Treats Party, a special event featuring dancer meet-and-greets, performance excerpts and holiday treats.
