Bars expected to be packed for the Spurs draft parties Wednesday night

The official watch party at La Cantera starts at 6:30 p.m.

SAN ANTONIO — All eyes are on the Spurs today picking 2nd and 14th pick in the first round of Wednesday night’s NBA Draft.

It’s a big opportunity for the team to further strengthen their young core.

A lot of bars will be packed tonight, as they were when we had the number one pick and landed Victor Wembanyama.

The team is doing an official watch party at 6:30 p.m. at Frost Plaza in La Cantera.

They’re going to have music, drinks, games, a photo set up, a raffle drawing, and Spurs trading cards.

Other spots doing watch parties include Bar 7 and the Growler Exchange.

The Friendly Spot Ice House, and of course the Roo Pub owned by former Spurs player Patty Mills are other great options.

As for who the Spurs might get with the 2nd pick, Rutger’s Dylan Harper is projected to be called.

He’s an explosive point guard and son of former NBA champion Ron Harper.

His draft profile describes him as a do it all play maker with positional versatility….which will add nicely to an already strong back court of De’Aron Fox and rookie of the year Stephon Castle.

If you want to get a head start on the watch party celebrations, here’s a great way to start the day, Whataburger is giving away free honey butter chicken biscuits.

And be sure to tune in to kens 5 for live coverage from the draft in Brooklyn.

Nate Ryan will have previews starting at 4 p.m. and post draft reaction at 10 p.m.
