Basketball Hall of Famer says Bol and Wembanyama share the same on-court abilities

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembayama is described as “generational,” a future face of the league, a perennial all-star and an MVP candidate with an enormous ceiling.

The same cannot be said for Suns’ Bol Bol, but don’t tell that to Basketball Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway.

While appearing as a guest on “Run It Back,” he was asked if he still stands by his statement that Bol is better than Wemby.

Hardaway did not back down from his statement, adding that Bol and the Spurs center share the same athletic abilities.

“I think Bol Bol has the same abilities as Victor Wembanyama,” he said. “I think that Bol Bol hasn’t went out there and showed it for some reason, but I see the same athletic ability that Bol Bol has.”

Said Hardaway: “I think he hasn’t been given the right opportunity to go out there and prove himself like a Victor Wembanyama.”

The Bol and Wemby comparisons have been bandied mainly due to their tall frame.

However, height aside, there is a wide gap in their statistics.

A head-to-head comparison shows a substantial lean towards Wemby, with Bol having an edge in field goal shooting.

Hardaway isn’t the only Basketball Hall of Famer to say that Wemby and Bol are on par.

Shaquille O’Neal has constantly pushed this narrative, arguing that Bol is in the same league as Wemby and even saying he is better than the French big man.

If the stats do not lie, then Wemby is the superior player compared to Bol. Not to take anything away from the Suns’ center, but ultimately, there is zero comparison between the two big men.
