WACO, Texas — Baylor University issued an emergency alert Thursday warning of a dangerous situation on its Waco campus, urging students, staff and visitors to immediately seek shelter.
Sergeant Ryan Howard of Texas DPS has confirmed to 6 News that it is not an active shooter.
The alert, posted on the university’s official communication channels, instructed individuals to stay away from doors and windows and emphasized that the warning was not a drill.
“[BAYLOR ALERT] Dangerous Situation on Waco Campus! Seek secure shelter now! Stay away from doors & windows. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. More info to follow,” the message stated.
No further details were immediately released regarding the nature of the threat or incident. University officials have not confirmed if any injuries occurred or whether law enforcement has detained any suspects.
