A man was sent to surgery and another was arrested following a shooting less than an hour after Thursday night’s Spurs game against the Pistons, the sheriff said.
SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said a person was taken to the hospital for surgery after a shooting at the Frost Bank Center on Thursday night.
Around 10 p.m., shortly after the Spurs game against the Pistons ended, officials responded to the east-side venue after receiving reports of a shooting.
According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, an unidentified 48-year-old was taken to a hospital with two gunshot wounds after a minor crash led to an altercation. The victim had tried to approach the suspect’s car, the sheriff said, when the suspect fired at him.
“Thankfully we’ve got a full crew here tonight of deputies, and so one of our deputies, being a tactical medic, actually had his medical kit with him and was able to administer lifesaving measures almost immediately, along with an off-duty nurse who was here,” Salazar said.
BCSO said the 47-year-old suspect was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but more charges could arise.
This is an ongoing investigation.
