SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a child has died and two firefighters were injured following a devastating overnight fire on the city’s far south side.
On Monday night, Bexar County fire officials responded to the 20000 block of Spanish Grant Road after receiving reports of a fire.
Upon arrival, the mobile home was engulfed in flames and is now considered to be a total loss.
BCSO says an 11-year-old boy was killed due to the fire, which reportedly cause around $70,000 in damages.
Officials said two firefighters were hospitalized due to injures sustained while attempting to put out the fire, but have been treated and released from medical facilities.
The Red Cross is reportedly assisting the family during this tragic time and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
