BCSO: 14-year-old dead, another detained after shooting on northeast side

BCSO said another teen, also believed to be 14-years-old, was seen running into a residence not far from the scene where he was detained by deputies.

SAN ANTONIO — A 14-year-old boy is dead and another teen is in custody after a suspected shooting on the northeast side Friday morning, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said deputies received a call just before 11 a.m. about an injured boy who was found in the street at Woodlake Parkway and Lakeview Drive. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the teen with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

He was rushed to the hospital where the sheriff says he died from his injuries.  He has not been identified at this time.

Salazar said a young man, also believed to be 14-years-old, was seen running into a residence about a half a mile away where he was later detained by deputies.

The teen lives with family who the sheriff says is currently being fully cooperative with the investigation.

A murder weapon was also recovered nearby, according to BCSO.

No word at this time on a possible motive in the shooting.

This is a developing story.
