BCSO: 19-year-old presumably drowns at Calaveras Lake, body recovered

The man’s body was found just before 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

SAN ANTONIO — Multiple agencies aided in the recovery of a man who drowned at Calaveras Lake Sunday morning, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. 

Emergency crews, including San Antonio Fire and BCSO, received a call about a water rescue at 12991 Bernhardt Road on Calaveras Lake around 11 a.m. Several agencies launched boats to search the water but did not initially locate him. 

Authorities said the 19-year-old man was reportedly swimming near the boat docks when he went under the water. 

Officials later said a surface search was discontinued and state agencies would continue to search the lake using sonar. According to BCSO, the man’s body was found just before 6 p.m. Sunday evening. 

No other information was provided.
