BCSO: 2-year-old found roaming in dirty diaper in south Bexar County; parents facing child endangerment charges

Officials say the child was “extremely dirty and unkept,” wearing a dirty diaper covered with feces.

SAN ANTONIO — A 2-year-old child wearing a diaper was found roaming alone in south Bexar County, according to officials.

BCSO was called to the 4100 block of Eutrophic Circle just around 10:18 a.m. Sunday where they found the child all by herself. She then ran into a nearby residence. The child was “extremely dirty and unkept,” wearing a dirty diaper covered with feces.

Deputies went into the residence and saw the “horrific” living conditions. They then made contact with Alexandra Prewett, who said she was the mother of the child. She was detained due to the living conditions observed.

Once the father arrived, he was also detained. He has been identified as Benito Lopez.

The child was evaluated by medical personnel and she was taken to a local hospital due to her condition.

Prewett and Lopez have both been charged with child endangerment.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
