BCSO: 5 ‘severely’ neglected dogs rescued; owner faces animal cruelty charge

The owner blamed it on worms and that he treated them, but he didn’t have anything to back up those claims.

SAN ANTONIO — Five neglected dogs have now been rescued following a Bexar County Sheriff’s investigation. The owner of those dogs is now facing animal cruelty charges.

BCSO says it was a delivery driver that alerted authorities to their condition.

That driver made the call last Wednesday. Two days later, Animal Control conducted a welfare check and saw the dogs with visible rib and hip bones, with signs that they hadn’t been fed, and there was no food or water in sight.

BCSO says when they talked to the owner, 32-year-old Cedric Taylor, and he blamed it on worms and said that he treated them, but he didn’t have anything to back up that claim.

He also admitted that he had spent most of the month out of town.

Taylor was arrested by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. He faces a charge of animal cruelty.

The dogs were taken by Animal Control, where they will stay pending a hearing.
