BCSO captures man wanted in connection to the tampering of a corpse

BCSO says deputies were dispatched to a home on Pleasanton Road in far south Bexar County after a caller reported that Byrd said he had killed his wife.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect wanted for tampering with evidence with intent to impair a human corpse. 

Charles Vandoil Byrd, 49, is described as 5’5″ tall, weighs about 208 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

BCSO says deputies were dispatched to a home in the 22100 block of Pleasanton Road in far south Bexar County after a caller reported that Byrd said he had killed his wife.

When deputies arrived, they found a decomposed body wrapped in plastic in Byrd’s residence on the property. The medical examiner said the body is believed to be a 44-year-old woman. 

BCSO says that Charles Byrd has been caught as of Sunday evening. He has been taken into custody and will be questioned.
