BCSO deputy arrested, fired on interference charge in San Antonio

A former Bexar County deputy was arrested and terminated after allegedly obstructing an investigation into a disturbance on the far west side.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A now-former Bexar County Probationary Deputy has been arrested and terminated after an incident on the far west-side.

On Wednesday, BCSO responded to the 3700 block of Amber Leaf after receiving several 911 calls reporting a disturbance at a residence.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Shanaye Marie Edwards, a BCSO Detention Deputy, and said she obstructed the investigation as investigators observed evidence from the disturbance.

BCSO said as a result of her actions, Edwards was arrested and charged with interference with public duties.

Edwards has been booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and dismissed of her duties with the sheriff’s office.

“Unfortunately for her, this now-former employee found out the hard way that holding a position of authority doesn’t shield you from accountability.  If you break the law, you will be held accountable through arrest and termination,” Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

This is an ongoing investigation.
