BCSO make arrests after alleged shooting in northeast-side gas station

Officials believe this shooting was gang related.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office have made two arrests related to a shooting at a northeast-side convenience store Sunday.

BCSO says they received several calls regarding a shooting around the 3700 block of Candleglenn just before 4 p.m. Sunday. SAPD also received calls for a shooting around the intersection of Mystic Sunrise and Binz-Engleman.

When they arrived to the Wez Mart at the location, deputies found two vehicles with multiple bullet defects. Evidence suggested that a shooting took place inside the store.

Witnesses said that four men in black sweatshirts were involved in the shooting. One of them was seen running through a nearby field towards the 5800 block of Glacier Sun. He was later found after officials say he broke a rear glass door to enter a home. He has been identified as Gerrell Jenkins. He had multiple gunshot wounds and as taken to the hospital.

Surveillance video from the store captured Jenkins entering the business and engaging in a shooting with 18-year-old Prince Boyd and other men.

Both Boyd and Jenkins were hit by gunfire.

It was later found out that Boyd had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

Officials believe this shooting was gang related. Jenkins is identified as an active gang member.

Jenkins was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct, burglary of a habitation and unlawful carry of a weapon in prohibited places.

Boyd was charged with unlawful carry of a weapon in prohibited places.
