SAN ANTONIO — A man was booked into the Bexar County Jail on charges related to the alleged shooting of his girlfriend on Monday morning, officials said.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said 67-year-old Eddy Lee Dacy admitted to firing the shot that struck his 35-year-old girlfriend, claiming it discharged during a struggle.
On Monday, BCSO said deputies responded to a welfare check and reports of a shooting at the 15500 block of Henze Road at around 7 a.m.
Deputies discovered the woman with a gunshot wound to the head inside a silver Toyota Tundra, according to BCSO. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The couple was reportedly collecting scrap metal at the location when an argument broke out. Multiple witnesses told deputies they heard gunshots in the area shortly after.
Dacy was questioned at the scene as a person of interest. BCSO said he later confessed to shooting his girlfriend.
Deputies said they seized two handguns from Dacy’s truck, including the weapon fired. He was transported to the Bexar County Jail and booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
As of Tuesday, officials said the victim remains in the hospital and there have been no changes or improvements in her condition.
