BCSO: Man found fatally shot in Converse after deputies investigate car crash

Deputies say at least three people have been detained in connection to this shooting at this time.

CONVERSE, Texas — A man was found fatally shot in Converse on Tuesday morning following an investigation into a car crash.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 8100 block of Steep Valley, near Old Seguin Road, around 3 a.m. for reports of a crash.

Sheriff’s deputies say the homeowner reported that the driver appeared to be injured inside his vehicle. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the victim, estimated to be in their late teens or early 20s, dead with multiple gunshot wounds to their upper torso on the left side.

“Where the shooting occurred was a couple houses down from where the crash occurred,” said Johnny Garcia, a BCSO spokesperson. “The suspect took off at a high rate of speed. We could tell there was some evidence of skid marks on the road.”

Deputies located the actual crime scene a few houses away from the crash scene and found a handgun nearby.

The vehicle that the victim was driving was reported stolen, deputies say. A search warrant is being processed at a home where the crime scene was located.

Deputies say they have several people detained for questioning in connection to this shooting.

Investigators believe the victim and the suspect may have had a prior feud, possibly through social media.
