BCSO: Man shot by security after crashing through gate at Calaveras Power Plant on southeast side

Bexar County deputies said a man crashed through the front gate of the Calaveras Power Plant, prompting a security officer to shoot and injure him.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was hospitalized after crashing through the front gate of the Calaveras Power Station on the far southeast side, prompting a security officer to open fire, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the incident happened just before 5 p.m. on Thursday at the CPS Energy facility located on the 12000 block of U.S. Highway 181 South.

According to investigators, a male driver rammed through the plant’s front gate in a vehicle. Security personnel at the site fired toward the vehicle, striking the man in the groin.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.
