SAN ANTONIO — A motorcyclist was killed late Sunday evening when police say he tried to pass an 18-wheeler on the south side and crashed into a car.
It happened around 9:12 p.m. in the 2700 block of South Loop 1604 at Oak Island Drive in far south Bexar County.
Witnesses say they saw the motorcyclist speed past them in the westbound lanes trying to pass an 18-wheeler when he crashed into a car.
Deputies say the 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the car suffered injuries as well with cuts on their heads and bruised shoulders and were taken to the hospital for their injuries.
BCSO says that both directions of Loop 1604 were shut down for about two hours while they worked to investigate the crash and clear the scene.
