According to BCSO, deputies attempted a traffic stop at I-37 and Fair Avenue, causing Lopez to flee the location, which prompted a pursuit The pursuit continued through Bexar County and into Guadalupe County and as Lopez reached the river near Seguin, he bailed out of vehicle. Deputies also saw him dump a backpack into the Guadalupe River.
Salazar said the backpack was retrieved and investigators found about 12.5 kilos or about 25 pounds of a mix of drugs that tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine. The drugs are worth about $250,000

Lopez is being charged with manufacturing/delivering controlled substance and evading arrest.
Salazar said d there are several theories on why the drugs are mixed including using the fentanyl to drive the addiction. The sheriff noted that Fentanyl is 50 times more addictive than crack cocaine.
The sheriff’s office believes this drug bust has ties to the cartel but said they will continue to investigate.
“I can tell you definitively this drug would have killed somebody had we let it get out into the wrong hands,” Salazar said.
Salazar thanked all of the law enforcement agencies that helped with this operation including DPS, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.
