BCSO: Realtor and clients find human remains on east side of Bexar County, investigation underway

A realtor and their clients stumbled upon human remains in Bexar County, prompting an investigation to uncover the identity and cause of death.

SAN ANTONIO — A local realtor and their clients made a shocking discovery Friday afternoon on the far east side of Bexar County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said around 1:45 p.m. a relator was showing a client some available property in Adkins when they found what appeared to be human remains and called authorities.

Salazar said the remains are human and appear to be an adult, but they are unsure if the decedent is a man or a woman. He mentioned that the remains are mostly skeletal and some personal artifacts were found nearby that could belong to the deceased. The remains were located about 50 yards away from the main road in an isolated area.

Authorities said the remains have been there for several months and no weapons were found nearby. The medical examiner is expected to conduct an investigation to determine the cause of death.

“We’ve got some work ahead of us but I’m pretty confident we’re going to be able to find out who this person is sooner rather than later,” Salazar said.

According to BCSO, they will be investigating and collecting evidence in the area for the next several hours. They will also be checking missing persons reports.
