The victim suffered bloody injuries to his face after pulling the suspect’s pit bull off his own dog, according to authorities.
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A dog attack in west Bexar County left a man with serious injuries to his face and the animal’s owner in custody.
According to a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, sheriff’s deputies responded to the 8400 block of Shooter Cove, near Shaenfield and Loop 1604, where the 43-year-old victim was “severely injured” when he tried to stop a pit bull from mauling his own dog on a walk Tuesday.
At that point, BSCO says, “the pit bull turned on him, attacking him and (dragging) him to the ground.” The man sustained injuries to his lips, chin and cheek before being taken to University Hospital.
BCSO says they later determined the dog’s owner to be Veronica Elizabeth Polley, 39, thanks to surveillance video footage and neighbors who told investigators her dog had been involved in other incidents.
Polley was arrested at her home on Thursday and faces charges of attack by dog resulting in serious bodily injury. She’s behind bars at the Bexar County jail on an $85,000 bond.
It’s unknown if the victim was still in the hospital two days later.
