San Antonio families can escape the heat at several free splash pads open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
With triple digit heat expected this week and beyond, families may be looking for ways to beat the heat.
Several free splashpad locations opened up in San Antonio back in March around town. A Heat Advisory is in effect through Wednesday and KENS 5 has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 105 each day to San Antonio, but the heat index – or “feels-like” temperature – could get up to 106 or 107 this weekend.
Here are some locations of splash pads to visit:
- Benavides Park – 1500 Saltillo St
- Elmendorf Lake Park – 3700 W Commerce St
- Hemisfair – 600 Hemisfair Plaza Way
- Lincoln Park – 2915 E Commerce St
- Martin Luther King Park – 3503 Martin Luther King Dr
- Pearsall Park – 5102 Old Pearsall Rd
- Ward Park – 435 E Sunshine Dr
The splash pads will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are open
The Park at Pearl also offers another free splash pad for kids, Gustav’s Geysers.
Outdoor city pools are still closed, according to the city’s website, as temperatures warm up and we get closer to summer. There is no date yet on when the pools will open. The Atanacio Garcia Natatorium, an indoor pool, is open year-round.
