Beware of fake GoFundMe site using San Antonio Pets Alive! name

SAPA! is actively working with GoFundMe to have these pages removed and to ensure that donors who contributed are refunded directly.

SAN ANTONIO — A local animal rescue is warning people to beware of fake sites when making donations to help animals.

San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) says that an unauthorized GoFundMe fundraiser has been created using their  name without their consent or participation.

They have not received any funds from the fraudulent fundraisers. SAPA! is working with GoFundMe to have these pages removed and to ensure that donors who contributed are refunded directly.

SAPA! wants you to know that these are the only safe and verified ways to donate to SAPA!:

“Our supporters mean everything to us,” said Bob Citrullo, Executive Director of San Antonio Pets Alive! “We want to ensure that every dollar intended for the animals in our care reaches them safely and directly. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued trust.”

This issue has impacted nonprofit organizations nationwide after GoFundMe generated donation pages automatically using public IRS data. SAPA! is working to protect supporters and maintain transparency in how donations are collected and used.
