SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, along with other agencies, are investigating a car yard on the east side Tuesday.

The agencies converged at the “Legit Auto Group” car yard and business at Nolan and North New Braunfels around lunchtime.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said detectives were doing online research and noticed a pattern involving a specific “dealership” selling several vehicles, including sports cars, that were being sold at very cheap prices.

BCSO contacted the DMV and then conducted an inspection on the Legit Auto Group and determined that the dealership is not licensed and several of their legal documents appear to be altered or fictious.

The sheriff said eight vehicles were seized and the department is in the process of obtaining warrants to further investigate. He said the vehicles have most likely been “improperly transferred” but are not stolen.

“At this point I don’t know that there’s anything legit about this car dealership.” Salazar said. “I can tell you that the whole thing seems to be improperly done.”

According to BCSO, many of the vehicles had visible problems like fluid leaks and some customers claimed they were not given the proper title for a purchased vehicle.

“Someone is going to get ripped off,” Salazar said when talking about how the car business was operating.

Authorities believe these vehicles could have been salvaged and bought at auctions but did not specify where they came from.

Salazar said no arrests have been made at this time but he believes that will change in the coming days.

BCSO did confirm that multiple agencies were involved in this investigation.
