SAN ANTONIO — A Bexar County District Attorney’s Office employee was found dead Sunday evening in an apparent murder-suicide, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were called to the 2500 block of Sunset Bend near North Foster Road around 7:45 p.m. for reports of two people unresponsive inside a home.
Upon arrival, deputies found a man and woman in a bedroom with apparent gunshot wounds to their heads. EMS was called but both people were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was identified as Jennifer Rodriguez by the medical examiner.
Investigators said the evidence shows that the man shot the woman before turning the gun on himself. It was determined that they were in a romantic relationship. A 9mm handgun was found at the scene near the bodies.
The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to BCSO.
The DA’s office sent out a statement Monday afternoon and described Rodriquez as a valued employee who brought a wonderful attitude to the workspace.
“While we are heartbroken by this tragic loss to not only our office but the community, we find comfort in knowing her memory will live on through the countless ways she made a difference. We will honor her by carrying forward the compassion, dedication, and positivity she brought to our team every day,” the statement read.
According to BCSO, this is an ongoing investigation.
