Bexar County deputy arrested for attacking inmate in restroom, attempting to wash blood evidence off inmate’s uniform, BCSO says

An investigation led detectives to discover the deputy reportedly hid and attempted to wash blood off the inmate’s uniform to hide evidence of the altercation.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office arrested and immediately fired one of its deputies after he allegedly “instructed” an inmate to meet him in the restroom before attacking him and trying to hide the evidence.

BCSO says Deputy David Mauricio Dominguez ordered an inmate housed in the jail annex to meet him in the restroom area of the living unit on Feb. 3. When the inmate approached the shower area, officials say, Dominguez attacked the inmate, striking him several times and leaving him with unspecified injuries.

During the altercation, Dominguez’s radio activated and alerted other officers who responded to the area after hearing the commotion. Dominguez reportedly denied any altercation ever occurring, but later admitted to “engaging in a physical altercation with the inmate.”

An investigation led detectives to discover that Dominguez allegedly hid and attempted to wash blood off the inmate’s uniform to hide evidence of the violence.

Dominguez also allegedly told investigators the the inmate had attacked him. But several inmates in the unit provided corroborating stories the victim had given, leading detectives to determine Dominguez was the one who initiated the assault in the restroom.

Dominguez faces charges of assault causing bodily injury, official oppression, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Since he was on probationary status – meaning he was hired less than a year ago – BCSO immediately fired him, per agency protocols.

He’s the third Bexar County sheriff’s deputy to be arrested thus far in 2025; all of them were probationary.
