Here’s where you can get a flu shot at no cost in San Antonio as health experts warn of high positivity rates during the 2025-26 flu season.
SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County leaders are partnering with University Health to offer free flu shots at four upcoming drive-thru events across San Antonio.
University Health says it is teaming up with Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai and Bexar County commissioners including Rebeca Clay-Flores, Tommy Calvert, Grant Moody and Justin Rodriguez.
This comes as early predictions warn of high positivity rates during the 2025-26 flu season.
Last year, University Health says hospitals across the country dealt with high outpatient visits and above average hospitalizations. Positivity rates soared to over 67% for one or more respiratory viruses in January—including nearly 870 positive flu cases in one week alone.
Health officials say adults older than 60, children and the immunocompromised are at higher risk for serious complications from the flu virus. When you get vaccinated, experts say you protect vulnerable people around you.
“Now is the time to think about protecting yourself and your loved ones,” said Dr. Leo Lopez, chief community and population health officer for University Health. “Wash your hands often, cover your cough, stay home if you are sick, see your doctor if needed and get vaccines early, including a flu shot, for the best protection.”
Adults and children ages six months and older can get a flu shot without leaving their vehicle at the following drive-thru community events.
- Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to noon
- Precinct 1 Satellite Office at 3505 Pleasanton Road; Hosted by Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores, Precinct 1
