Bexar County leaders to outline future growth plans during State of the County address

Judge Peter Sakai is scheduled to deliver the address, focusing on the county’s vision as San Antonio continues to grow rapidly.

SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County leaders are set to discuss the region’s future growth and priorities during the annual State of the County address Wednesday in downtown San Antonio.

Judge Peter Sakai is scheduled to deliver the address, focusing on the county’s vision as San Antonio continues to grow rapidly.

County leaders say the event comes at a pivotal time as San Antonio has recently become the sixth-largest city in the United States, increasing the demand for infrastructure, economic development and public services across Bexar County.

According to county officials, this year’s address will highlight investments tied to voter-approved projects from the November election, including upgrades to the Frost Bank Center and the Freeman Coliseum.

Other topics expected to be discussed include economic development on the east side, workforce expansion efforts and challenges related to healthcare access.

County officials said the address will also focus on ways Bexar County can remain economically competitive while supporting long-term regional growth.

Judge Sakai is expected to emphasize collaboration in advancing those goals. Leaders from Greater SATX, the Bexar County Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department and the Bexar County Manager’s Office are also expected to speak during the event.

The State of the County address is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. downtown.
