Bexar county man accused of double-murder dies by suicide in jail, officials say

Lorenzo Aleman was found dead Tuesday evening.

SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County officials say a man who had been accused in a double-murder that unfolded earlier this week was found dead in the Bexar County Jail on Tuesday, one day after he was taken into custody.

The local medical examiner said Lorenzo Aleman, 48, was found dead just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. It was later ruled that he died by suicide when he hung himself.

Aleman was arrested and charged Monday with capital murder, accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend and his nephew outside of a southeast-side H-E-B. According to an arrest affidavit, the pair “were having an intimate relationship” behind Aleman’s back, resulting in the violence.
