Bexar County’s 2025 property tax deadline has been extended. Here’s why.

Tax Assessor-Collector Albert Uresti is also warning about how USPS changes might impact residents making their payments by mail.

SAN ANTONIO — The deadline for Bexar County homeowners to pay their annual property taxes is fast-approaching, but residents have a few more days than usual to make their payment.

The annual deadline to pay full property taxes is typically Jan. 31. But because that falls on a Saturday this year, Tax Assessor-Collector Albert Uresti says the deadline to pay 2025 property taxes will be Monday, Feb. 2. Tax office locations in the county will be open until 6:30 p.m. that day.

Residents can also take advantage of curbside dropoff from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the downtown office (233 N. Pecos La Trinidad). Curbside dropoff will also be available at two other tax office substations – at 3370 Nacogdoches and 8407 Bandera – from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Meanwhile, The Southside (3505 Pleasanton Road) and Rocket Lane (8794 E. Loop 1604 North #2) tax offices will have drive-thru lanes for residents to use.

If you prefer, you can paid your property taxes electronically or via e-check here or by calling 1-888-852-3572.

Uresti’s office is also warning about the impacts of recent USPS changes for those paying via mail: While the tax office processes payments based on the postmark date, it “may not reflect the date the payment was deposited in the mail, but instead, may reflect the date the payment was processed at the USPS Regional Processing Hub. If you are mailing your tax payments, you’re recommended to receive a hand-stamped postmark at the post office, which can function as “proof of mailing,” or mail your payment early enough to where it isn’t an issue.

Anyone who hasn’t paid past that date risks accruing late fees starting at 7%. Those who are on half, quarter or 10-month payment plans with the office won’t be subject to Feb. 2 deadline.
