
Police say the 39-year-old entered a roadway without yielding the right of way and was hit by a Nissan Altima.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was hit while riding his bicycle on the north side Friday afternoon, according to police.
The 39-year-old man was reportedly riding his bike in the 13600 block of Jones Maltsberger Road at about 1:23 p.m.
He was riding eastbound on the sidewalk and crossed over from north to the south side of the road. Police say he entered the roadway without yielding the right of way and was hit by a Nissan Altima that was driving on Jones Maltsberger.
The Nissan attempted to avoid the bicycle, but could not avoid the crash, according to police. The bicyclist hit the passenger side of the Nissan and was thrown off the bike.
The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. At last check, the man was still in surgery and in critical condition.
No charges are expected for the driver of the Nissan.
