Big Win at Big’s: Fredericksburg store sells ticket for $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot

Although the ticket winner in Fredericksburg hasn’t revealed themselves yet, one thing’s for sure, money talks.

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas — The second-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history — a staggering $1.8 billion — has been won, and this time, there are two lucky winners: one in Missouri and one in the Texas Hill Country town of Fredericksburg.

The Texas winning ticket was sold at a convenience store fittingly named Big’s — a new addition to the area that’s now basking in national spotlight.

“We are a brand-new store. We opened the end of February of this year, so this is great excitement for us,” said Melanie Carter, the store’s manager. “You know, it’s also a blessing for whoever the winner was.”

The buzz has been nonstop at Big’s, where Carter and her team have already crafted their own celebratory signage, proudly written on the front doors.

“All the staff are congratulating me and I’m like, no guys, it’s congratulations to you,” Carter said. “We don’t know. I could’ve sold it, any of my cashiers could’ve sold it.”

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot? A jaw-dropping 1 in 292.2 million.

“I bought $150 worth of tickets,” said Fredericksburg customer Julio Garcia.

The winning numbers in Saturday night’s drawing were: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62 and the Powerball 17. The prize will be split evenly between the Texas and Missouri ticket holders.

The last Powerball jackpot win happened back on May 31, making this a long-awaited moment for lottery fans across the nation.

Back at Big’s, excitement still lingers.

“We’re waiting on our signage, but until then, we’ve created our own,” Carter added with a smile.

The Texas winner has yet to come forward — but in a town where word travels fast and hope runs high, one thing is certain: money talks.
