SAN ANTONIO — It was a heartfelt show of support from the San Antonio Spurs at an event earlier this week.
Spurs center Bismack Biyombo uplifted breast cancer patients at Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan, joining them to craft bracelets for the team’s “Box Out Cancer Night.
He sat down with the Pink Warriors support group, making bracelets, signing cards and offering encouragement. He also visited patients at the oncology unit.
Debbie Williams, a breast cancer survivor, said the visit meant a lot to the community.
“I love that he interacted with our ladies. It gives them that support that they need. That’s so important; it’s such a part of the breast cancer journey. It’s not going through the treatments, it’s getting the support you need to get through the journey,” Williams said.
Fans can also get involved this Saturday at the game by adding ribbons of hope to a special art display honring cancer survivors and those still fighting.
