Black Mouth Cur mix named Krissy is proof of the power of love | Forgotten Friends

She was pulled from a traumatic and neglectful situation that included more than 30 dogs. She has bounced back, showing incredible resilience.

CENTER POINT, Texas — Our “Forgotten Friends” series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.

This week’s Forgotten Friend is Krissy, a 2-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix who was pulled from a hoarding situation that included 36 dogs back in November of 2024. She has been with Texas Round Up Animal Alliance for a little over one year now, just waiting for that perfect fit.

“Despite a past marked by neglect, abuse, and trauma, she has shown incredible resilience and heart,” said shelter staff. “Krissy is one of our rehabilitation dogs, and to call her an overcomer is truly an understatement — she is living proof of what a little love can do.”

She gets along with other dogs and also likes cats. Krissy is very affectionate and loves to snuggle. And did we mention she adores treats? She would love to have someone that will spend their days playing with her and their nights letting her cuddle up near them.

Krissy’s ideal home would include an active and patient family who are committed to continuing her positive journey. She does have a lot of energy, so a home with older kids might suit her best.

“She does best with people who enjoy engagement, structure, and lots of love,” said shelter staff. “She’s ready to leave her past behind and find a forever home where she can continue to shine.”

Krissy has already been spayed, is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and current on both her flea and heartworm preventions.

The cost to adopt Krissy is $250. In fact, all of the adult dogs available at TRUAA are $250 and the puppies are $300. All of their dogs are up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and on flea and heartworm prevention.

“Krissy’s story is one of strength, healing, and hope,” said shelter staff. “If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and resilient companion — Krissy just might be your girl.”

For whoever adopts Krissy, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free “Glow Up” Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy’s most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!
