Black Restaurant Week returns to San Antonio with citywide dining for a good cause

BRWSA 2026 kicks off February 22 and runs until March 1. Here’s what you need to know.

SAN ANTONIO — Food lovers across the city will have a new reason to dine out next week as Black Restaurant Week San Antonio returns for its sixth year from February 22 through March 1 for a celebration of food, culture and local businesses.

Throughout the week, participating restaurants will feature limited-time Black Restaurant Week specials curated specifically for the event. Organizers say $1 from every special sold will be donated to community organizations, including The Lemonade Circle, Go Red for Women of the American Heart Association and Beyond The Light Outreach Project.

Founded in 2018, the initiative was created to highlight the culinary contributions of Black chefs, restaurateurs and food entrepreneurs while encouraging residents to explore locally owned businesses, according to a press release.

“Black Restaurant Week San Antonio is about access and visibility,” founder Ryane Smith said in the release. “It invites the city to intentionally explore restaurants they may not have experienced before, while directly supporting both small businesses and community organizations.”

Diners can expect a wide range of cuisines, including soul food, Caribbean, barbecue, comfort classics, desserts and contemporary fusion dishes, organizers said. Some locations will also host pop-ups and curated dining experiences throughout the week.

In addition to restaurant specials, the event will feature several signature experiences:

  • Chef vs. Chef: A live culinary competition where local chefs prepare original dishes for guests and judges in real time.
  • SoundBites: A multi-sensory tasting that pairs each course with music to explore how sound influences flavor and memory.
  • Kicks & Cocktails: A mixology event blending sneaker culture, design and specialty cocktails in a boutique setting.

Organizers say the weeklong celebration aims to create economic impact for local businesses while strengthening community partnerships through intentional dining.
