Body found at San Antonio River Walk, SAPD launches investigation, officials say

The body showed no obvious signs of trauma.

SAN ANTONIO — A passerby made a gruesome discovery along the San Antonio River Walk Monday afternoon, prompting a homicide investigation, police say. 

San Antonio Police responded to a call after someone spotted a body in the San Antonio River near Villita Street just after 12 p.m. 

Police say the man’s body showed no obvious signs of trauma but investigators are still working to determine how long he was in the river and what may have caused his death. 

San Antonio Fire crews assisted with the body recovery. 

The San Antonio Police Department is leading the investigation. 

No other information was provided.
