Body found burned in brush fire on east side of San Antonio, police say

Firefighters responding to a brush fire made a disturbing discovery — a body wrapped in materials and set on fire.

SAN ANTONIO — A brush fire on the east side of San Antonio turned into a homicide investigation after a body was found at the scene.

According to police, firefighters were called around 7:35 a.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of Rigsby Avenue for a small brush fire.

As crews worked to put out the flames, they found what appeared to be a body wrapped in materials and set on fire.

Firefighters immediately notified police, who responded to the scene and began an investigation.

Authorities say the victim has not yet been identified, and it’s unclear how the body ended up at the location.

No suspect information has been released.

The case remains under investigation.
