BEAUMONT, Texas — The body of Carlos Chavez Padalla, 26, of Beaumont was recovered Friday evening.
Padalla’s body was found at the yacht club where responders were searching, according to Judge Collins. He has ordered an autopsy. The family has been notified.
One man who was with the group drifted too far out and did not resurface, according to the release.
Game wardens, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and divers from the Beaumont Fire Department participated in the search using sonar late into the night.
The search was happening near the Beaumont RV & Marina just north of the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge.
The search was eventually suspended and then resumed Friday morning shortly before sunrise, according to the release.
