Body of missing 5-year-old boy found in North Texas creek, sources say

Santiago Aburto Gonzalez was last seen around 7 p.m. Sunday when he walked out of his family’s home at the Ashton Park Apartment Homes, officials say.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — The body of a missing 5-year-old boy has been found in a North Texas creek, law enforcement sources confirmed to WFAA on Monday afternoon.

Santiago Aburto Gonzalez was last seen around 7 p.m. Sunday when he walked out of his family’s home at the Ashton Park Apartment Homes in the 2300 block of West Pioneer Parkway in Grand Prairie, police said.

Around 2 p.m. Monday, law enforcement sources told WFAA that the boy’s body had been found in a creek just west of the apartment complex.

More information about Aburto’s disappearance has not yet released by authorities. Search crews could be seen in the area near the apartment searching for the boy all morning and into the afternoon.

Aburto was last seen wearing an orange “Mickey” T-shirt, blue shorts and no shoes, according to a police news release issued earlier Monday..
