Body of missing Farmers Branch man found in Kaufman County, officials say

Rigoberto Badillo had been missing since Jan. 19, officials say.

KAUFMAN, Texas — The body of a man reported missing from Farmers Branch was found in a creek in Kaufman County this week, officials confirm.

Officers found a body in a creek around 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of East Highway 175 between the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and Numo Manufacturing, police say.

Officials say the body was wearing clothes consistent with what Rigoberto Badillo, 49, was last seen wearing Jan. 19, and had a tattoo on the hand that matched a description of Badillo.

The body was recovered from the creek and taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office, which later identified the body as Badillo. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office hasn’t identified a manner of death.

“The investigation into the found body will continue pending the results of the Medical Examiner’s report regarding both the identity and cause of death,” a statement from the Kaufman Police Department states.

Police previously said Badillo was last seen at about 1 a.m. on Jan. 19 at 1900 East U.S. Highway 175 in Kaufman.

He’d been released from Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department custody, and his belongings were found abandoned near the building’s front doors, according to police.

Video footage from about 1:18 a.m. Jan. 19 showed Badillo in the parking lot near the Kaufman County Pet Adoption Center, and he was reported missing later that day, officials said.
