Body of woman possibly experiencing homelessness found in north-side drainage ditch, SAPD says

Police say there is “nothing suspicious” about this case and do not believe there is anything criminal as of Monday evening.

SAN ANTONIO — The body of a woman police believe was experiencing homelessness was found in a north-side drainage ditch, SAPD says.

Police were called out to the 300 block of Springwood Lane around 2:30 p.m. Monday evening. Once there, they found a body belonging to a woman estimated to be in her 50s.

Police say there is “nothing suspicious” about this case and do not believe there is anything criminal as of Monday evening. They believe the woman was living in the drainage ditch and was more than likely homeless.

There is about a 45-second to one-minute walk down the drainage ditch to where the woman was found, SAPD says.

SAPD is now letting the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office determine the cause of death for the woman. They’re also allowing the Homicide department to investigate to confirm that there is nothing criminal in the case.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
