Boerne overpowered by Randle in state semifinal matchup, 40-16

The Greyhounds’ loss to the Lions caps a 13-2 season, their best since going 14-1 in 2022.

SAN ANTONIO — Boerne entered Friday night’s Class 5A-II State Semifinal matchup on a mission: to get back to the state championship for just the second time in school history for football.

But it was the undefeated Randle Lions who made good on their continuing pursuit of an undefeated season, defeating the Greyhounds 40-16 at the Alamodome on Friday night to dash Boerne’s dreams.

Randle moved to 15-0 on the season. Boerne lost just its second game all year to go  with 13 wins, their most in a season since going 14-1 in 2022.

The Lions advance to face South Oak Cliff in the title game at AT&T Stadium on Dec. 20. Randle is hunting its second championship ever, and second is as many years.
