Boerne police warn of online car scam after victims lose nearly $40,000

Boerne police are warning the public after scammers posing as a luxury car dealership tricked victims out of nearly $40,000 through online vehicle sales.

BOERNE, Texas — Police in Boerne are warning the public after multiple people were scammed out of nearly $40,000 through an online vehicle sales scheme.

According to the Boerne Police Department, a business calling itself “Allways Boerne” is falsely advertising high-end luxury vehicles for sale online and claiming to operate out of the former Jennings Anderson dealership on Interstate 10.

Officers confirmed with the property owner that the address listed — 33215 I-10 — is only an auto body and detailing shop and is not a car dealership.

Investigators say none of the victims live in Boerne, and police are now working to connect those affected with the appropriate law enforcement agencies where the crimes occurred.

Police are urging anyone shopping for vehicles online to take extra precautions before sending money.

Authorities recommend avoiding large upfront payments, especially wire transfers, cryptocurrency or gift cards, which are commonly used in scams. They also advise buyers to independently verify businesses using contact information found on their own, not details provided by a seller.

Police say deals that seem too good to be true or sellers who pressure buyers to act quickly should be a red flag.

Anyone who believes they may have been targeted by a similar scam is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency.
