The Little League World Series begins Aug. 14 in Williamsport, Pa.
WACO, Texas — The Little League team from Boerne has advanced to the Little League World Series.
Boerne, which represented the Texas West district, captured the Southwest Region Championship on Tuesday night with a 6-3 victory over Greater New Orleans Little League, representing Louisiana.
The game was the culmination of a double-elimination tournament involving seven teams played in Waco over the past six days. The Boerne team was undefeated in the tournament.
Boerne now advances to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., starting Aug. 14. The event includes eight regional winners from across the United States, plus eight international winners representing different regions around the globe.
