The City of Lytle has issued a boil water notice for residents.

Officials cite low distribution of pressures, less than 20 psi, as the reasoning for the notice.

Customers with the city’s public water system are required to boil their water before use, which includes when washing hands or face, brushing teeth, drinking, cooking and other activities, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Instead of boiling water, customers may also purchase bottled water or obtain water from other suitable sources.

“We are actively working on the issue and will be taking samples of the water system upon the leak being resolved, and will issue a rescind of the Boil Water Notice once it is safe to do so,” the city said.

As of Saturday afternoon, the boil water notice is still in effect. The mayor expects to get an update by the lab by Monday at 12 p.m.
