The advisory is expected to be officially issued sometime Monday afternoon.
SAN ANTONIO — Residents in Lytle, Texas, will have to boil their water before use after a main was hit on Monday, city officials say.
Mayor Ruben Gonzales said on social media that water service would shut down entirely for the community of about 2,100 starting at 3 p.m., in order for repairs to be made. Then, a boil-water notice will be sent.
The advisory typically means any water Lytle residents plan to drink or use for preparing and cooking should be brought to a roiling boil and kept there for one minute before consumption. That goes even for homes where water is filtered, and it’s also recommended for water that will be used for washing dishes, brushing teeth or bathing. Or, residents can buy and use bottled water.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area of Railroad and North Prairie streets as crews work on repairs.
