A break-in at Bulverde Spring Branch’s Bourbon & Branch bar reveals a potential pattern of local thefts, urging community vigilance and police collaboration.
SPRING BRANCH, Texas — A family business in the Bulverde Spring Branch area wants to warn other businesses after being targeted in a break-in.
Bourbon & Branch workers said someone forced their way inside over the weekend, causing damage and stealing cash. KENS 5 was told the break-in happened late Saturday into early Sunday morning when someone forced their way in, using a saw, and made off with cash and their safe.
“Whenever we looked at the video footage, it looked like fireworks going off because he was sawing open the ATM,” General Manager of Bourbon and Branch, Tanner Clymer, said.
Because of the way the suspect got in, Clymer believes this was all calculated.
“Because he got on the roof and actually cut our fiber optics for our alarm…he kinda came in, knew exactly where everything was,” Clymer added.
Within fifteen minutes, Clymer said the cash that was earned on Friday and Saturday night was gone.
“They’ve definitely done this before.”
Clymer said their break-in happened around four or five Sunday morning. And just hours before, the owner of Strutty’s Feed and Pet Supply told KENS 5 they were also hit.
“No, we are definitely not the only ones…like we’ve been in contact with the feed store because we got hit the same night,” Clymer told KENS 5.
A photo of a person who took off with some of the cash from the feed store was also posted by Bourbon and Branch via Facebook. It’s unclear if that person is the same one who broke in. The family-run business of almost five years, hoping this never happens to anyone in their community again.
“The fact that it happened to a couple of other businesses within the same week as us and then the same night, it’s like ‘holy crap.’”
