Brackenridge Park hosts Halloween fun and fishing adventure this weekend

Brackenridge Park Conservancy is celebrating the fall season with two free family events this weekend.

SAN ANTONIO — Brackenridge Park Conservancy is offering back-to-back fun for kids and parents this weekend.

The free festivities kick off Friday, Oct. 24 with Trick or Treat on the Trail from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Koehler Pavilion. The annual event, presented by Ghisallo Cycling Initiative in partnership with Brackenridge Park Conservancy, transforms the park’s trails into a safe, car-free trick-or-treat route. Families can expect candy stations, costumes and Halloween fun for all ages.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP through Eventbrite, which can be found here.

The celebration will continue Saturday, Oct. 25 with Family Fishing Day at Joske Pavilion from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 600 channel catfish will be released for junior anglers and families to catch. Poles, lessons and other equipment will be provided and no fishing license is required.

Kids under 16 can also enter contests for “first fish caught” and “biggest fish caught, ” and both winners will get a new fishing pole.

Family Fishing Day is made possible with help from Texas Parks & Wildlife, the Fin Addict Angler Foundation and the City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department.
