Brad Simpson to return to court ahead of February murder trial

SAN ANTONIO — Brad Simpson is scheduled to return to court Tuesday as his case moves closer to trial in the disappearance and presumed murder of his wife, Suzanne Simpson.

Tuesday’s hearing is expected to focus on pre-trial motions, giving both prosecutors and defense attorneys a chance to resolve outstanding legal issues before jury selection begins. Simpson’s trial is currently set to start Feb. 13.

Simpson’s last court appearance was in late September, during a brief hearing in which the trial date was finalized. Prior to that, Judge Joel Perez modified the conditions of Simpson’s no-contact order, allowing him to communicate with his son by phone or video call.

Suzanne Simpson, an Olmos Park mother, was last seen on Oct. 6, 2024. According to the arrest affidavit, a neighbor reported seeing her trying to escape from her husband and hearing screams coming from a wooded area near their home.

Investigators searched that area and later expanded the investigation to a landfill east of Bexar County and a ranch in Bandera County. Suzanne Simpson’s body has never been recovered.

Simpson is expected in court at 9 a.m. KENS 5 will be there and will provide updates as the hearing gets underway.
