Mya Lesnar’s record-breaking performance at the Mines Alumni Classic has her leading the nation in women’s indoor shot put.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Five members of the Colorado State track and field team have received Mountain West Weekly Awards after last weekend’s Mines Alumni Classic competition.
Mya Lesnar, Kajsa Borrman, Tyler Colwell, Ismael Dembele and Kyle Bigley have been honored by the Mountain West Conference.
Mya Lesnar, a junior track and field team member, was named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Lesnar broke the Colorado State University shot put record with her first-place finish. CSU said Lesnar broke the previous school record of 17.55 meters with a mark of 18.50 meters.
Lesnar currently leads the nation in women’s indoor shot put.
Athleticism appears to run in the Lesnar family. Mya is the daughter of former WWE and UFC champion Brock Lesnar. Before his time in the WWE, Brock won the NCAA Division I collegiate wrestling championship as a senior at the University of Minnesota.
Lesnar and the Rams track and field team return to action this weekend in two different meets in Colorado Springs.
