About 30 homes have been evacuated in the area of Applewhite Road and Loop 1604, south of San Antonio.
SAN ANTONIO — A brush fire in south Bexar County has led to the evacuations of about 30 nearby homes as agencies respond, according to State Rep. John Lujan.
The Texas A&M Forrest Service says it is responding to an active fire that is 50 acres in size and 0% contained in the area of Silver Mountain Drive and Applewhite Road. That’s about 18 miles south of downtown San Antonio and just north of the Atascosa-Bexar county line.
It sparked around 6 p.m.
Details are few as of now, but Lujan said those evacuated can head to Elmendorf City Hall for shelter. The San Antonio Fire Department said it was also assisting, and responders from Atascosa County were also seen in the area.
This is a developing story.
